A "First Friday" reception 6-8, author talk at 7.

Masterpiece Comics adapts a variety of classic literary works with the most iconic visual idioms of 20th-century comics. Dense with exclamation marks and vivid colors, R. Sikoryak’s parodies remind us of the sensational excesses of the canon, or, if you prefer, of the economical expressiveness of classic comics from Batman to Garfield.

(Reservations are not necessary for this gathering. For more information, please call the bookstore, 802-649-1114 or the CCS, 802-295-3319.)

A Norwich Bookstore event to be held at the Marion Cross School

This stunning and lyrical Civil War novel by Howard Frank Mosher is a story of brotherhood and survival, action and adventure. While searching for his lost brother, the protagonist encounters a fantastical array of characters, including a weeping elephant, a pacifist gunsmith, a woman who lives in a tree, a blind cobbler, and a beautiful and intriguing slave girl. At the same time, he wrestles with the choices that will ultimately define him: how to reconcile the laws of nature with religious faith and how to temper justice with mercy.

(This event will be held in the multi-purpose room to accommodate the author’s slide presentation. Reservations are recommended.)
