 Dr. Helen Caldicott\, author of <em>If You Love This Planet\: A Plan to Heal the Earth</em> and <em>Nuclear Power is Not the Answer</em>\, has devoted the last thirty eight years to an international campaign to educate the public about the medical hazards of the nuclear age and the changes necessary in human behavior to stop environmental destruction. Dr. Caldicott’s visit to Vermont is timely as our state grapples with the health and environmental impacts of tritium leaks at the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant in Vernon.

Matthews\, Ivy Schweitzer\, and Suzie Woods - who live in or have ties to the region will read from their work\, including recipients of the first annual Bloodroot Poetry Award.</p>
