Carol Westberg & Laura Foley--Ice Lands & Why I Never Finished My Dissertation--ONLINE!

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THIS ONLINE EVENT!

Join us for a special evening with two acclaimed local poets, as they present their new collections.

The lyric poems in Ice Lands journey through regions of knowing and not knowing, alive to our mortal connections in this precarious world and to the brevity of our stay. This book, says poet Lisa Russ Spaar, reads like “a gathering of koans, a breviary for navigating the second decade of the twenty-first century."

Carol Westberg’s poetry books have been finalists for the Tampa Review Prize and the New Hampshire Literary Award, and individual poems for the Ruth Stone Prize and the poet laureate’s New Hampshire Poet Showcase. She’s published poems in Prairie Schooner, Hunger Mountain, CALYX, and North American Review, among other journals. A teacher, editor, and communications consultant, Carol lives in Hanover, NH.

"Foley’s writing may appear sparse and reserved but it harbors a subtle power. The poet’s greatest strength is her acute sense of observation. She possesses the ability to thread sensuousness into the fabric of everyday life. . .This is a dazzling volume of poetry that delights in crisp imagery and tender recollections." - Kirkus

Laura Foley is the author of seven poetry collections. Why I Never Finished My Dissertation received a starred Kirkus Review and an Eric Hoffer Award. Her collection It's This is forthcoming from Salmon Press. Her poems have won numerous awards, and national recognition—read frequently by Garrison Keillor on The Writers Almanac; appearing in Ted Kooser’s American Life in Poetry. Her poems have appeared in Alaska Quarterly Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Poetry Society London, Crannog Magazine (Ireland), DMQ Review, Atlanta Review, Mason Street, JAMA, and many others. Laura lives with her wife, Clara Gimenez, among the hills of Pomfret Vermont.
