Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley will host Deborah Roffman for the Dorothy Campion Corcoran Fall Lecture.
A guide to “raising sexually healthy kids in a world saturated with sexual language and imagery” begins with acknowledging the difficulty parents often have discussing sexuality with their kids, and immediately offers strategies and tools for addressing five core issues: affirmation, clarity about values, setting limits, and anticipatory guidance. Roffman emphasizes the importance of calm, matter-of-fact dialogue, and encourages parents to be the person their child comes to for knowledge and advice.
Named one of Time Magazine’s “Top Sixteen Parenting Experts for the 21st Century,” Debbie Roffman is a sexuality educator, consultant, and author based in Baltimore, Maryland, where she has taught sexuality education in grades 4-12 at the Park school for more than 35 years. Debbie’s most recent book is Talk To Me First: Everything You Need to Know to Become Your Kids’ “Go-To” Person about Sex.
