Holiday Festivities
in the Norwich Square

We invite you to sample foods from our featured cookbooks & enjoy lots of good cheer!

Our book shelves are full of holiday suggestions from fiction to adventure, history, mystery and humor for everyone on your list.

The baskets and tables are piled with colorful and thoughtful treasures.

Holiday lights will be up & candles will be lit...

The Book Angels are hard at work collecting books for children for the mid-December deliveries.

We're ready to help get your gifts wrapped and ready to slip under the tree!

And for parents of young children...

Our friends at the Norwich Public Library once again invite children to enjoy a  film (6:00 - 7:45) while parents come to the Square. This year's movie is a road trip adventure with Woody and Buzz - and a new toy named Forky - as they head out on a wild quest. Bring a pillow, snacks will be provided. All ages welcome. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver.

2019 Featured Cookbooks

Jujubileebilee: Recipes from Two Centuries of African American Cooking by Toni Tipton-Martin

In Jubilee, Toni Tipton-Martin celebrates the breadth and depth of African American cuisine. Through recipes and stories, we meet pioneering figures, from enslaved chefs to upper-class entrepreneurs. Recipes include classics such as Sweet Potato Biscuits and Seafood Gumbo as well as lesser-known dishes like Baked Ham Glazed with Champagne.

"There are precious few feelings as nice as one that comes from falling in love with a cookbook. . . . New techniques, new flavors, new narratives--everything so thrilling you want to make the recipes over and over again . . . this has been my experience with Toni Tipton-Martin's Jubilee." -- Sam Sifton, The New York Times

nothing fancyNothing Fancy: Unfussy Food for Having People Over by Alison Roman

In Nothing Fancy, Alison Roman presents food for informal dining with friends - one or many - any day of the week, plus tips on prep and her personal take on each dish. Recipes range from snacks like Seeded Breadsticks with Parmesan, through salads and sides to main dishes, including One-Pot Chicken with Dates and Carmelized Lemon, and more than a dozen desserts.

"The author's informal, funny voice comes across strongly, making her notes a real pleasure to read... A fresh, downright-festive encouragement to make and enjoy good food with good people." -- Booklist (starred review)
