Town House Forum
Thursdays in August • 7 pm
The historic eighteenth-century Strafford Town House will again host a provocative reading and discussion series in Strafford, Vermont, on four August evenings. This summer’s series will feature cartoonists, poets, journalists, and writers, and each presentation will be followed by conversations with the audience. Everyone is invited to pack a picnic and come early to have supper on the Strafford Common with the authors, whose books will be offered for sale by the Norwich Bookstore.
Join us for an evening of poetry and discussion with two of Vermont’s most eloquent poets, Major Jackson and Didi Jackson.
Major Jackson is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Roll Deep, and editor of the Library of America’s Countee Cullen: Collected Poems.
Didi Jackson is the author of the forthcoming Moon Jar. Several of her recent poems have appeared in The New Yorker and Ploughshares.
Both poets teach literature and creative writing at the University of Vermont.
A whimsical and “devastatingly effective” (Washington Post) collection that captures the spirit of travel and pays homage to heritage.
"A devastatingly beautiful collection of strange and wonderful poems." —Poetry DailyIn these poems of broken unions and acute longing, Major Jackson explores art, literature, and music as seductive forces in our lives.
