Mary Holland & Michael Caduto - local naturalists sign new books

It is an exciting fall when two well-respected, local naturalists have new books published!

Mary Holland's new book, Naturally Curious Day by Day: A Photographic Field Guide and Daily Visit to the Forests, Fields, and Wetlands of Eastern North America builds on her popular Valley News column and her first book, Naturally Curious. Set up as a naturalist's journal, entries describe in detail sightings and events in the natural world and are accompanied by stunning color photographs of birds, animals, insects, plants, and more. Essays throughout describe specific events in nature happening during each month, while sidebars supply natural history facts and information pertinent to the topics of the month or the time of year.

Michael Caduto has written Through a Naturalist's Eyes: Exploring the Nature of New England. These fifty plus essays bring readers into the complex stories to be found in nature. Drawing on first-hand experiences and reflections on the relationship between the natural world and humans, Caduto explores some of the plants, animals, natural places, and environmental issues of New England from dragonflies, cuckoos, and chipmunks to circumpolar constellations and climate change. Stunning illustrations by Adelaide Murphy Tyrol illuminate these elegant and humorous essays.

Come and meet the authors, have books signed (think about holiday gifts!), and learn new ways to appreciate the natural world that surrounds us!

This is an informal gathering so no reservations are required. For more information or to reserve books, please call 802-649-1114 or email info@norwichbookstore.com.
