Meet beloved children's author and illustrator Tomie dePaola as he signs copies of his books during this annual Thanksgiving weekend bookstore event. DePaola will meet with children (and grown-ups!) and sign books, including his latest. We will have plenty of dePaola’s classics on hand, too.
Tomie dePaola is the acclaimed author and illustrator of more than 250 books for children. His books range from autobiographical stories to retellings of folktales and legends to original tales, such as the Strega Nona books. The American Library Association said: "His works reflect an innate understanding of childhood, a distinctive visual style, and a remarkable ability to adapt his voice to perfectly suit the story." He lives in New London, New Hampshire.
Free and open to the public. No reservations necessary. If you are unable to join us, we are happy to arrange to have books signed for you to pick up later. For more information, call the bookstore at (802) 649-1114 or email email@example.com.
This delightful new edition of Tomie dePaola’s beloved classic stars Strega Nona at her trickiest—and bumbling Big Anthony at his silliest!
Bambolona is tired of working in her Papa’s bakery. There is far too much to do! So she decides to go to wise Strega Nona and learn a little magic, instead.
But here comes Big Anthony.
In this beloved classic picture book, Tomie dePaola retells and illustrates an Italian Christmas folk tale, breathing warmth and humanity into the character of the lonely Old Befana and her endless search for the Christ Child.
Every morning and every afternoon, Old Befana sweeps with her broom. “Cranky old lady,” the children say.
Andy and Sandy hit the stage in this fourth book of an easy-to-read picture book series about friendship—from Caldecott and Newbery Honoree Tomie dePaola and Emmy Award–winning writer for the Muppets Jim Lewis.
Outgoing Sandy convinces shy Andy to do a dance at the big talent show. The only problem? Andy doesn’t know how to dance! Luckily, Sandy is a good teacher.
Capturing the magic and fun of early childhood, this lively collection of poems, from the creators of Little Poems for Tiny Ears, is a book to be treasured.
